Blog Social networking

Some ways that these technology can be used is promote businesses to promoting community concerns easily and quickly. Benefits to society would be such of Amber alert, where it is automatically inserted into most social media news post. Another benefit that is really incredible is how social networking boost job recruit, such as linked-in (Langfitt, 2006). Companies are able to look for the best possible candidates to fill job positions and are able to view all their job history to education. Yes, there is a dark side like how the founder of Facebook’s family member had her photos put on public as she set it private (Greenfield, 2012). She set it to private assuming only friends would see it, but apparently people who were just following were was able to see those photos too. The way these technology might evolve so much in the future that no one would ever have any privacy what so ever, which is really scary.

BLOG: Blog v Wiki

Blogs are a way of people communicating what they are interested in, sharing with friends and family, or community, a page where it frequently updates with written posts. An example of a blog is “Wal-Mart’s Tastemakers”, article by Michael Barbaro from NY times. It encouraged workers to give real reviews on products, no matter how bad it is which encouraged consumers to buy from them more. Which they took seriously, to where they described a video’s games combatants as “new Nazis for the modern era”. Wiki is made for multiple users to work together to contribute on a project or subject, giving people the most balanced information. Such as with refences and links to articles that pertain to the content. The importance of convergence in today’s networked world is everyone has the ability to search up whatever they need to such as items that interest them to expanding their knowledge intellectually. Blogs can be used for collaborations by having a select amount of people work on it, each having an assigned duty to creating a community that has a common interest. Such as the article titled “Brooklyn Blog Helps Lead to Drug Raid”, by Michael Wilson from NY times. That goes on to how a blog united people in the community in Bay Ridge to rally support for getting rid of a crack house. Possibly wiki could be used for advertising, such as having a small advertisement on the bottom or corner of the screen while you’re using wiki. With a small close button, which would make the user click the advertisement at least two times or more.
